UPS Module

1. Calculate shipping cost in real time.
2. Let users track their parcels from your site.

This module uses the total weight of products in the shopping cart together with the shipping address and the UPS option that the user selects. It sends this information to UPS and gets back the UPS Regular Daily Pickup rate.

Additionally users can add an optional extra insurance that will cover orders over $100 USD up to $50,000 USD (this has an additional cost).

This process is completely transparent to the user who doesn't have to visit the UPS web site at any time. Everything is done in the background.

To enable the communication to UPS you will need Microsoft's free ServerXMLHTTP component from MSXML that is likely to be installed on your host already.

Additional information of other options that can be added to the system can be found at the UPS web site (http://www.ec.ups.com).

This module will also allow your customers to track their parcels. Simply add a UPS shipping reference number to the orders throught the Control Panel. Customers will then be able to track their parcels when they review their order enhancing their experience.

The UPS web interface has a limit of 150 lbs not set by Q-Shop but UPS. Please consider the likely maximum weight your orders could have when using the UPS module.

UPS cost calculations will only work for customers based in the US although the destination of the packets does not have to be within the US.
